More tea, Vicar?
DJ Junk – The Best B-Boy Tunes
Apologies for the crap image, but what are ya gonna do, huh? If you was a fan of Junk's 'Breaker Breaks' series then this should be right up your strasse, old bean. The unimaginative title aside, this is a fine collection of those uptempo break gubbinz that those B-Boy chaps are fond of. These days I can barely manage a top rock without my knee's exploding in arthritic agony, but obviously you don't have to be a breaker to appreciate this heady stew of cuts, scratches, beats, breaks and samples.!!!!

The dogs bollockz
Now this is tidy, always been a fan of Coldcut & DJ Food and their highly influential Solid Steel show. This is the mutts proverbials.
Here's the info and shit...
"DJ Food turns back the clock in our 25th Anniversary slot and following a request for an old school Hip Hop set for the De:Tuned party in Antwerp earlier this week, Strictly Kev put this special party mix together to rock the dancefloor. Solid Steel however gets an exclusive to kick things off in the form of excerpts from his first ever recorded mix, unheard by anyone except close friends and hidden on tape for 25 years. Back in '87 his DJ (and graffiti) name was D-Vice and the 'Soundlab mix' (named after his 2nd mixer, made by Soundlab) was made between 1987-88 on his first two belt-driven decks (only one with a pitch control) and a pause button tape deck. A Strictly Old School Special."

The Takeover
Warz Takeover Show #1
You may or maynot be aware of Waxer's 'Disco Scratch Show', a shining beacon of humour and true school Hip Hop that is broadcast on Thursday evenings at 9-11pm (UK times). Many moth's are drawn to it's funky fresh flame including regular listener 'Wild Styles' very own 'Patti Astor'.
And the chatroom that runs alongside the show is indeed some of the funniest banter and drink fuelled double entandres I've ever witnessed.
Alongside the UK's hardest working host, Waxer, there are the monthly takeover shows put out by LG from Style Warrior and The ABU Takeover show hosted by Repo 136 from Ageing B-Boys Unite Blog, each adding his own unique take on Hip Hop.
Last night I stepped into the lions den and did a takeover show of my own that, judging by the feedback, went over quite well. A multitude of technical ball aches could've seriously rained on my parade but I was suprised at how many of the regular Disco Scratch faithful stuck with it.
Big up to all those that tuned in you know who you are and especially to Waxer for giving me the oppurtunity. To listen to the audio or download the show, check out past shows or indeed tune in live on thursday evenings Check out Waxer's Disco Scratch site for further info. Hopefully I can muster up another show sometime in the near future, here's what got flung into the mix last night.....

Request bizniss
DJ Nando & Mike C
"My Sides Better....Naw Mine Is" Mixtape
(1999)
(1999)
I don't normally do requests but, this one is kinda fits this blog.
Well Nando's side of this mixtape does anyhow, which has by far the better selection of tunes. Mike C preoccupies himself with too much Eminem and Mobb Deep for my tastes.

Major Woody
I bogarted this wicked '90's themed AV mash-up/DJ mix from Pipomix's blog. DJ Woody smashes it outta the ball park on this one. I was in my 20's by the time most of these tracks rolled around so while not exactly a soundtrack to my childhood it definitely recreates the vibe of the era. I hated Macauley fuckin' Culkin and the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles back then and I hate 'em still.
